Access Statement for Belmont House, Beer

Introduction

We aim to offer a comfortable, friendly and memorable stay, to all who visit us at Belmont House, our quaint flint ‘fisherman’s cottage’ in the picturesque fishing village of Beer, Devon.

The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do our up most to assist you.

Pre-Arrival

We have 5 guest bedrooms, I of which is situated on the ground floor (Superior room 5)

All of the bedrooms can be viewed on our web site: www.beer-devon.com This can also be viewed in ‘large print’. There is additional information on our web site giving details on attractions, places to see, and places to go etc. Any enquiries can be made via our web site, or by telephone or email (details below)

We are very happy to cater for special occasions. Please advise us at time of booking, and should you wish, we are able to arrange for flowers, champagne etc.

We also have a luxury 8 seated mini bus which we are able to use for Railway, Bus Station and Airport pick-ups. The mini bus and driver are also available for hire for’ tailor-made’ excursions. Again, please enquire at time of booking. www.JurassicCoastTours.com

There is a frequent bus service from the village. The bus stop is a 1 minute flat walk away, the beach 2mins. Bus and train timetables are available via ‘Travel Line’ on our web site in advance, or we can supply timetables on arrival.

The Train Station is a 15 min drive away, and is also on the bus route.

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

Please advise us of your anticipated time of arrival so that we can aim to be here to greet you.

If you are delayed or expect to arrive late, please let us know so we can make alternative arrangements

On arrival we will provide you with a parking permit (1 per room if you have a car) for use in the car park opposite. This enables you to park in the main car park ‘free’ for the duration of your stay.

There is ‘restricted’ parking directly opposite our property which can be used for ‘off-loading’. Please ask if you require assistance with luggage. Entry to Belmont House is through the front gate and via the front porch and door. The porch is light at night until approximately midnight.

The width of the front garden gate is 87cm, and there is a step which is 17cm high into the property.

Main Entrance

Our entrance porch has a non slip mat, and the doorway width is 79cm. The outer porch door is left open giving access to displayed local information for callers to take or look at.

The inner door is locked, but there is a bell to ring for attention.

Guests are escorted into the Breakfast Room on arrival to complete a registration form. At this point we ask if there are any special requests/requirements, or if our guests require any advice or assistance to enhance their stay.

Guests are then escorted to their rooms, and the facilities explained.

Breakfast Room

The breakfast room is carpeted with short pile Axminster carpet. There are 4 tables which stand at a height of 29cm. The chairs are without arms, and stand at 18cm.

Menus are provided at each table.
Vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and all other diets are catered for.
The bed and breakfast is strictly no smoking throughout the premises.
Soft background music is played during breakfast.
Full waitress/waiter service is provided.

A bookcase has local maps and books available for the use of guests.
There is a Guest book available.

In the window of the breakfast room is a small photo screen, which shows externally, a revolving series of pictures of the rooms and displays the tariff.

Stairway/Landing

There are 11 stairs to the top of the landing, each 21cm high, 25cm deep and 84cm wide. At the top of the landing there are a further 2 steps, each17cm’s high into bedrooms 1 & 2., one to the left and one to the right.

Bedrooms

All bedrooms are en-suite.
All room are centrally heated and have thermostatically controlled valves on the radiators.
All rooms have a fan.
All rooms have a shaver point.
Each bedroom has a ‘hospitality tray’ with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits.
Each en-suite is provided with flannels and complimentary toiletries.
Superior room 4 has a ‘mini bar’
Each room has a hairdryer, clock, TV with remote control.
The bedding provided is duvets. The weights are changed in accordance with the season.
All bedrooms are carpeted, and shower enclosures tiled.
There is an information folder in each room which includes emergency evacuation procedures, and list of local doctors, dentists and chemists.

Bedroom 1 (Deluxe Pink Room)

Double aspect room.
Shower cubicle is in the room, and the toilet is separate.
Step into shower is 15cm
Wrought Iron double bedstead standing at 61cmhigh.
Small folding table and 2 chairs provided
Individual lighting above each side of bed.
Mini fridge.

Bedroom 2 (Deluxe Green Room)

Shower cubicle is in the room, and the toilet is separate.
Step into the shower is 15cm.
Pine double bedstead standing at 61cm high.
Small folding table and 2 chairs provided
Individual lighting above each side of bed.
Mini fridge.

Bedroom 3 (Single Gold Room)

Small double bed (4’) up against the wall, standing at 74 cm high.
Folding table and chair.
Lighting above bed.
Step into the shower is 8cm.
Mini fridge.

Bedroom 4 (Superior Blue Room)

En-suite has corner bath with shower above.
Height of bath side is 56cm
Wall mounted heater.
Wicker double bedstead standing at 49cm high.
Mini-Bar
Large sofa bed which can be converted into another double bed if ‘twin’ required.
Large ‘flat screen’ TV/DVD with small DVD library.
Bath robes
Individual lighting above each side of bed.

Bedroom 5 (Superior Monochrome Room)

Ground floor room.
Wrought Iron double bedstead standing at 56cm high.
Individual lighting above each side of bed.
Shower and toilet.
Step into shower is 19cm.
Large wall mounted ‘flat screen’ TV/DVD
Bath robes.

Outside of property

To the front of the south facing property are two seating areas screened from the road by flower troughs and palm trees. There is a small patio table and 4 chairs to one side of the front entrance and a wooden bench to the other.

Future Plans

We have an in house Management plan, which we will be following to continually improve and maintain the standard which we have already achieved, in accordance with market trends and conditions.
